ProMergeTool!

ProMergeTool! is a methodology that simplifies process harmonization in the post merger integration. With its systematic approach the tool aims to support organizations after mergers and acquisitions to harmonize their processes and management system in an efficient way with a quick return to operational performance. 

 

Purpose of ProMergeTool

When companies are merged, at least two management systems and parallel processes are available. Depending on the integration approach a harmonization on management system level and individual process level is needed, especially in absorption and symbiosis approach. Often conflicts of interests and subjective considerations lead to unilateral decisions or stagnancy in the post merger integration. ProMergeTool! provides an objective view on management system and processes and supports decision taking. Further strengths and weaknesses are visible, e. g. strong and mature processes in a general weak management system should be taken over, although the integration strategy is contrary. 

Management system (MS) level:

  • Identify the "better" MS with a maturity model designed for post merger process harmonization
  • Find out weak points and opportunities for improvement in your MS
  • Analyse the MS in a neutral way under the consideration of defined requirements of ISO 9001:2015
  • Add your individual company specific requirements
  • See at a glance the results/maturity of all requirement categories and occurrences of your compared company parts

Process level:

  • Compare up to three identical processes available in a company against defined process requirements
  • Simplify your decisions for the conception of the future harmonized process map (new common process, taking over one available process of one merged company, eliminate process, apply GATE principle)
  • Identify the maturity of all your processes with its strengths and weaknesses 
  • Recognize redundant processes
  • Consider process complexity: find out the degree of unifying a process or allowing individual process (parts)
  • Speed up process harmonization with the GATE principle: definition of common gates within a process
  • Use the tool as support in defining a new common process or applying the GATE principle

 

Process harmonization phases

Process harmonization is executed in following phases, illustrated by the "process harmonization phase model":

The process harmonization phases exist of analysis phase, conception phase, realization phase and verification phase. In respect to different responsibilities and execution levels in a company, the model is divided into a generic superordinate management system level and the process level. In the analysis phase a maturity assessment on MS level and process analysis on process level is recommended, followed by strategic alignment and process optimization in the conception phase. The realization phase describes the implementation of the concept, finally the PH attainment is evaluated in the verification phase. 

ProMergeTool! guides you through the analysis and conception phase, further the maturity assessment is advised to use again in the verification phase for a direct comparison. Especially during the analysis phase and conception phase a systematic approach is essential.
